The central chairman of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO), Jihand Baloch, was reportedly detained from his residence in Quetta and transferred to an undisclosed location. According to the organization and local sources, more than 20 individuals were also taken into custody during separate raids carried out in Mangochar. These developments have raised concerns over the escalating military operations in the region.

The BSO issued a statement asserting that Pakistani forces carried out a raid on Jihand Baloch’s home in Quetta’s Hudda area, resulting in his detention. The organization described Baloch as a prominent leader of a student political group dedicated to democratic activism. They highlighted that he has previously been subjected to enforced disappearances on two separate occasions.

In their statement, the BSO demanded that Jihand Baloch be produced before a court and released unconditionally. The organization condemned the detention and called on authorities to uphold legal procedures and respect human rights in handling political activists.

According to Baloch’s wife, personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) raided their home around 11:00 pm. She recounted that the officers entered their residence at gunpoint, harassed family members, and assaulted the children before taking her husband away. Since then, no information has been provided regarding his current location or condition.

She appealed to the authorities to produce him before a court if there are any charges against him. She also urged that the family be informed about his condition and whereabouts if he is in official custody, emphasizing the lack of transparency and communication from security agencies.

Meanwhile, local sources reported that Pakistani forces conducted multiple raids in various parts of Mangochar tehsil in Kalat district. During these raids, residents were subjected to physical abuse, and over 20 people were detained. The precise locations of the detainees remain unknown, heightening fears of enforced disappearances in the region.

The ongoing military operations and movement restrictions in parts of Kalat and neighboring Mastung districts have contributed to a tense atmosphere. These measures have severely affected daily life, with reports indicating widespread arrests and curfews aimed at controlling unrest.

A day prior to these events, Pakistani forces reportedly detained five individuals in Mastung, including a woman and three children. Additionally, a curfew was imposed in the Khadkocha area of Mastung, further restricting movement and raising concerns about human rights violations.

Local sources have also reported similar operations in other parts of Mastung and Kalat districts. The security operations have reportedly led to the killing of a resident in Khuzdar, where shelling by Pakistani forces struck a populated area, causing casualties and destruction.

These developments underscore the ongoing instability and military activity in Balochistan, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict. Human rights organizations have expressed concern over the increasing number of enforced disappearances, detentions, and violence in the region.
