Two Abducted in Kech; BYC Seeks Probe into Youths’ Deaths

Two men were abducted from a home in Balochistan’s Kech district, local sources said, as the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) called for an inquiry into the deaths of two young men who had previously gone missing.

The abducted men were identified as Hamood, son of Muhammad Jan, and Sultan, son of Usman. Their families alleged that the raiders in Balochabad, Mand, belonged to a government-backed armed group locally known as a “death squad”. Local sources said women and children in the house were also assaulted and harassed. Hamood had reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance before.

Separately, the BYC called for an independent investigation into the deaths of Mehran Baloch and 19-year-old student Yasir. Their bodies were found in Buleda after they had allegedly been forcibly disappeared.

The BYC said Mehran, son of Haji Akbar and a resident of Minaz, Buleda, was detained by Pakistani forces during a raid on his home on November 16, 2025, and taken to a military camp. His family received no information about his whereabouts until his body was found in Buleda on October 21, 2026, the committee said.

In a separate statement, the BYC said Frontier Corps (FC) personnel detained Yasir, son of Baloch Khan, from his home in Minaz on March 2, 2026. His body was later found in the Salo Kaur area of Buleda, more than seven months after he disappeared.

The committee described the cases as part of a continuing pattern of enforced disappearances, unlawful detention and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. It said the alleged abductions, prolonged periods in which the men’s whereabouts were unknown, and the subsequent discovery of their bodies raised serious concerns about the rights to life, liberty and legal protection.

The BYC urged national and international human rights organisations to take notice and called for independent, impartial and transparent investigations into both men’s disappearances and deaths. It also demanded legal action against anyone found responsible.

Meanwhile, the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) continued its protest camp outside the Quetta Press Club for the 6,396th day, calling for the recovery of Saghir Ahmed, Iqrar Baloch and other missing people.

Saghir Ahmed’s sister said Pakistani forces detained her brother and their cousin, Iqrar Baloch, from a coach at the Ormara checkpoint on June 11, 2025, and forcibly disappeared them.

The family said the coach driver, a friend of the two men and other passengers had given statements to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating enforced disappearances. Despite those statements, the family said, the men had not been recovered.

Their families called for the men’s immediate recovery, adding that if either was accused of an offence, he should be brought before a court in accordance with the law. They warned they would stage protests if the two were not found.

VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch urged the government and relevant institutions to ensure the recovery of Saghir Ahmed, Iqrar Baloch and all other forcibly disappeared people, and to provide justice to their families.
