Balochistan Government Orders 5,000 Families to Vacate Kalat’s Shoor Paarod by October 30
The Balochistan government has ordered about 5,000 families in the Shoor Paarod area of Kalat to leave their homes by October 30 ahead of a planned military operation. Officials warned that families who do not comply could face administrative action.
Additional Chief Secretary for Home Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said residents must vacate the area before the deadline. Reports estimate that the order affects around 30,000 people, who are expected to move to designated camps.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has approved the relocation plan, according to reports. Officials say Shoor Paarod is government land and that the operation is planned because armed fighters are present in the area.
The order follows reports last month that residents of four settlements in Nushki were told to leave their homes for about two months.
Baloch Yakjehti Committee leader Sammi Deen Baloch said families across Balochistan were being deprived of their ancestral homes, land and livelihoods through forced displacement. She said the government must provide alternative accommodation, livelihoods and basic services, and ensure people can return voluntarily and safely.
“Forcibly displacing people from their land can neither establish lasting peace nor provide genuine security,” she said.
