Balochistan: Military raids result in alleged enforced disappearances of 10 individuals
Reports have emerged of alleged enforced disappearances involving at least ten individuals across different areas of Balochistan. These incidents follow raids and operations reportedly conducted by Pakistani forces in the districts of Nushki, Khuzdar, and Surab.
Sources from the region indicate that a large-scale search operation took place in Mal, Killi Mengal, Nushki, on Monday morning. Local residents described how approximately 20 military vehicles surrounded the area before personnel began conducting house-to-house searches.
During the operation in Nushki, seven individuals were reportedly detained by the security forces. These individuals were later transferred to undisclosed locations, with their whereabouts remaining unknown to their families and local communities.
The individuals detained in Nushki have been identified as Shah Khalid, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Niaz, Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Arif, Alauddin, and Abdul Basit. Their detention has raised concerns among residents and human rights observers about the fate of those taken into custody.
In Khuzdar’s Doctor Colony area, a 25-year-old shopkeeper named Saifur Rehman, son of Mohammad Yaqoob, was reportedly detained during the night of 25 May 2026. Family members allege that personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Military Intelligence (MI) took him into custody around 2 a.m.
Saifur Rehman’s family claims he was transferred to an undisclosed location, and they have yet to receive any information regarding his whereabouts. The incident has added to the ongoing concern over enforced disappearances in the region.
In a separate case in Hajika, Surab, residents reported that Frontier Corps (FC) personnel raided a house early in the morning on 1 June. Two men, identified as Ubaidullah, aged 23, and Khuda Bakhsh, aged 54, were detained during the raid.
Family members of the two men stated that both farmers were taken to an unknown location, and no further information has been provided about their condition or whereabouts since their detention.
Additionally, reports have emerged of helicopter shelling in the Moola area of Khuzdar district. Local residents alleged that Pakistani military helicopters shelled areas near Moola Chottok, including locations where people had gathered for picnics.
No immediate details regarding casualties or damage have been available, and the authorities have not publicly commented on the allegations at the time of this report. The incidents continue to raise concerns over human rights violations in Balochistan.
