18-Year-Old Ahmed Ali Baloch Killed in Landmine Explosion in Dera Bugti, Says BYC
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has claimed that Ahmed Ali Baloch, an 18-year-old resident of Yaro Pat in Sui, Dera Bugti, was killed in a landmine explosion on 19 July 2026.
According to a statement issued by the organisation, Ahmed Ali, the son of Ali Khan Bugti, died after stepping on a landmine in the area. BYC alleged that the explosive device had been planted by what it described as "state-backed death squads."
The organisation said the incident reflects the broader security and human rights situation in parts of Balochistan, alleging that civilians continue to face risks from landmines, enforced disappearances, and violence in conflict-affected areas.
BYC has called for an independent, impartial, and transparent investigation into Ahmed Ali's death, the removal of landmines from civilian areas, and accountability for those responsible. It also appealed to the United Nations and international human rights organisations to monitor the situation in Balochistan.
