Balochistan and Sindh: Four individuals forcibly disappeared, four recovered
Four individuals have reportedly been forcibly disappeared from Quetta and Dera Bugti, raising concerns about enforced disappearances in these regions. According to sources, the victims include Majeed Shahwani, son of Ali Akbar, and Abdul Razzaq, aged 17, son of Kabir Ahmed. Both were detained by personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and police in Kechi Baig, Quetta, around 9:00 p.m. on 26 August 2026. Since their detention, they have vanished and their current whereabouts remain unknown.
In another incident, Saddam Bugti, a 40-year-old shopkeeper and son of Mehwat Khan, was allegedly detained by Pakistani forces in Dera Bugti at approximately 4:00 p.m. on 29 August 2026. Following his detention, Saddam Bugti was forcibly disappeared, adding to the ongoing concerns about enforced disappearances in the region.
Additionally, Mohammad Naseer, a 23-year-old man and son of Abdul Karim, was reportedly detained from his home in Quetta at around 3:00 a.m. on 31 July 2026 by CTD personnel. After his detention, Naseer was forcibly disappeared, and his exact location remains unknown to this day.
Meanwhile, there are reports of four individuals who had previously been subjected to enforced disappearances being recovered in different parts of Pakistan. These recoveries provide some relief amidst the ongoing cases of enforced disappearances.
One such case involves Aamir, son of Ahmed, who was allegedly forcibly disappeared from Takri Village, Maripur, Karachi, on 16 August 2026. Aamir was recovered from Maripur on 29 August 2026, offering hope for families of other disappeared persons.
Similarly, Yasir Ali, son of Nasir Ahmed, was reportedly forcibly disappeared from Quetta on 28 August 2026. He was recovered two days later, on 30 August 2026, in a development seen as a positive step.
Younas Baloch, son of Anwar, was abducted from Haji Shah Ali Village, Sharafi Malir, Karachi, on 29 July 2026. He was recovered from Hyderabad, Sindh, on 29 August 2026, after over a month of enforced disappearance.
In another case, Niaz, son of Rashid, was forcibly disappeared from the same area, Haji Shah Ali Village, Sharafi Malir, on 1 August 2026. He was recovered from the same location on 29 August 2026, completing a series of recoveries that highlight the ongoing issue of enforced disappearances in the region.
