Berlin event honors Banuk Karima and Baloch women
A cultural and political event honoring the late Baloch activist Banuk Karima and highlighting the political struggles of Baloch women was held in Berlin on Sunday, organized by the Yaagi Art Collective. The program aimed to celebrate Baloch heritage and shed light on the ongoing fight for Baloch rights and autonomy.
The event featured a variety of performances, including Balochi theatre, traditional Balochi Dochapi music, and a political discussion. Participants included members of the Baloch diaspora, German activists, and individuals from other countries committed to supporting Baloch causes.
The theatre performance focused on the political roles and activism of prominent figures such as Banuk Karima, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, and Sammi Deen Baloch. It depicted their efforts in advocating for Baloch rights and their contributions to the struggle for independence and justice.
Following the performance, a political discussion took place centered on Banuk Karima’s life and her significant role in Baloch activism. Participants addressed various issues affecting the Baloch community and engaged with questions from the audience, emphasizing the importance of her legacy. Banuk Karima was a distinguished Baloch political activist and the first woman to chair the Baloch Students Organization-Azad. She passed away in Toronto in 2020.
